a little off topic

You know, people amaze me. I love how people think. I've just finished reading 29 Gifts and am in the middle of reading Eat Pray Love, yes, a little late. I've always believed that human beings are capable of amazing things and that we should hold each other to a pretty high standard because, well, we're just that great. If we have the ability to be great, shouldn't we be?

Cami Walker gave 29 gifts away in 29 days to help her get over the serious emotional drain of living with multiple sclerosis. It seems amazing to give 29 gifts just because. What she found out, though, is that  by viewing little things (like doing the dishes) as gifts, we start to redefine what it means to give. Little things count, too, damnit! We just have to consciously view them as giving. We have to make a, excuse me, neuro-statement and think about how we might effect someone else's life.

Wait...shouldn't we be doing that anyway?
What Walker does is examines those little things that we just do without thinking and gives them a different purpose. Instead of washing the dishes because we have to because we just made dinner and the kitchen is a wreck, we wash the dishes because it will be easier for me to wash them now than for you to do it later. It's a nice little change of pace.

So why am I going this much off topic? Where have my Eating Green posts been? Well, maybe a little on hiatus.

I find it a little crazy that some people can be so awesome when other are complete jackasses.

Look at this cute little guy. Cute as a button. He might be the cutest little guy ever. Ever. Five weeks old and already handsome. No thanks to his parents, of course.

They left him and his brother and sisters (five of them in total) on the side of the road in a closed container. One one of those Rubbermaid containers. Five of them. Can you believe what assholes these people must have been?! Not only that, but one of the little girls passed away while she was in the container.

And two of them died after they were in the care of the clinic that some kind person brought them to. Tyson is one of the two little puppies left. He's dehydrated and just barely hanging on. He's eating, though.

These pups need a home. A good home. You know, one where they won't starve to death and will get the shits they need. Oh, and a home where there is someone to cuddle with. Not like the place where they came from. Guys, he needs a place. Let me know if you're interested.

There is a reason good people exist in this world, and sometimes it is just enough to give a little pup a home.

  1. What a cutie! I hope someone takes him home when he's healthy and ready. Check out Suzie's law passed by NC Senate in June 2010. What a shame people behave this way.
